Short mat bowls is played indoors, so it is an all-year sport that is not affected by weather conditions. The equipment is transportable and easy to set up; it is even played on North Sea oil rigs! It is ideal to provide gentle exercise and improve hand/eye co-ordination.
Short Mat Bowls is one of our longest running groups. Ideally, members should have their own set of bowls although one set could be available to borrow on a temporary basis, until you get your own.
In theory, no previous knowledge is required, although it would be useful to have had experience, new members not in that position can learn from other long-term members.
A quarterly fee is payable at the beginning of each calendar quarter, which is variable depending on how many group members we have at any one time.
If you are interested in joining the group (you must already be a member of the Swaffham & District u3a) or want more information, please contact Maggi Taylor or Sue Beedell.
